Youth Service Morning: Feed the Hungry
When school’s out, more kids are home and hungry! This summer, Or Hadash will be helping with several projects to feed our wider community.
Here’s the first: Calling all youth and teens to help us make PB&J sandwiches for The Sandwich Project. Their donations are down, but the needs are up! Stop by to lend a hand and see your friends before heading into summer adventures. What would make your dad more proud?
All are welcome! Older children can be dropped off, but if your child will need help making a sandwich, please stick around to be sure we have enough parents and older children present to help the younger children.
Please let us know if you are coming - RSVP here.
And please sign up to bring some sandwich supplies.
Thank you for helping feed our wider community!

Torah in the Woods
Have you ever wondered what happens in the Hebrew Bible after Deuteronomy - if you turn the page forward instead of flipping back to Genesis? There is a whole world of Jewish history and story and poetry that follows in the Prophets and the Writings, and this year we are setting out to explore it, joining Jews worldwide in the 929 project started by the Israeli Education Ministry. We meet every Tuesday at noon via Zoom, with sessions led by Rabbi Lauren or Dr. Amy. Come when you can, even if not every week; no experience or Hebrew knowledge is expected or required. If you've ever felt, "You know, I really should read the whole Bible sometime," now's the time. As Hillel said, "If not now, when?"
All are welcome. Click here to join the meeting.
Learning the Landscape
Join Rabbi Lauren and Dr. Amy for weekly conversation about the broader Jewish landscape and how it might inform our own mission and strategic planning. These sessions will take place each Wednesday during the summer. Our discussion for June 18 will be based on a section from Rabbi Mike Uram's book, Next Generation Judaism. It focuses specifically on millenials and how they tend to relate to Judaism, and discusses Uram's groundbreaking approach to meeting their needs while serving as Rabbi at the UPenn Hillel. Click here for the book link.

Shavuot Morning Hike
"We all stood there at Mount Sinai," we say on Shavuot. This year, we'll try to get a little closer to recreating that experience by climbing a (small) mountain ourselves!
Join us for a family-friendly hike on Sunday June 1st (Erev Shavuot). Meet up at 9am at Kennesaw Mountain Visitor's Center for a 9:15am hike departure. We'll bring the Torah scroll up the mountain, stopping along the way for reflection, singing, and activities. We'll gather at the top for an abbreviated Torah reading and singing, and return to the trailhead for snacks before we depart.
Please RSVP here for the hike.
Note: Kennesaw Mountain Park does not permit vehicles to drive to the top of the mountain on weekends. Kennesaw Mountain Park shuttle does NOT operate on weekends. The only way to participate will be during the hike, which is about a mile each way. Bring whatever will help you be comfortable outside -- water, snacks, sunblock, bug spray, hats, etc.
The Visitor’s Center is located at 900 Kennesaw Mountain Dr. All parking requires a payment, if you wish to pay in advance, click HERE.
There are a limited number of parking spots in the Visitor Center Parking Lot - we recommend arriving early, carpooling or park at the closest satellite lot and walk over. The closest one is the Overflow Lot at Old 41, about a 1/4 mile walk to the Visitor Center.

We will be joined by Rabbi David Goodman from Jerusalem. He'll be teaching on "Rabbi Akiva and his Students: A Story of Resilience." All are welcome!
Rabbi David Goodman is the rabbi of Moreshet Avraham, a Masorti community in Jerusalem, where he shares the pulpit with his wife and partner, Rabbi Amirit Rosen. He is a research student in Jewish Philosophy at Haifa University, exploring how religious thought is evolving in the 21st century. Alongside his rabbinic work, David is involved in cultural and interfaith initiatives that promote dialogue and mutual respect. He also serves on the board of Rabbis for Human Rights and enjoys both teaching and learning in diverse settings.
Rabbi Akiva and his Students: A Story of Resilience
After losing 24,000 disciples in a devastating tragedy, Rabbi Akiva did not succumb to despair. Instead, he rebuilt with just five new students, who went on to shape the future of Jewish thought. His story teaches us that even in the face of profound loss, perseverance and purpose can lead to renewal and lasting impact.
