Israel Alone, by Bernard-Henri Levy, Facilitated by Sari Marmur
NON-FICTION
Bernard-Henri Lévy’s Israel Alone is a passionate and outraged cri-de-coeur, about the loneliness of Israel and the tragedy of October 7, starting with Lévy’s eyewitness account the day after the pogroms.
On October 8, 2023, Bernard-Henri Lévy flew to Israel to bear witness to the unprecedented invasion and massacre committed by Hamas. Israel Alone begins here and weaves in Lévy’s fifty years on the ground in Israel, from his first trip in 1967, his experiences writing on all the conflicts since, and his participation in various peace plans and contacts with all the Israeli leaders from Menachem Begin to Shimon Peres and from Ariel Sharon to Yitzak Shamir and Yitzak Rabin.
From his unique philosophical and humanist perspective, Lévy analyzes the ultimate evil unleashed. on Israel on October 7 and delves into how the Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, radical Islamist groups, Turkey, and China have played oles and profited from this tragedy.

Evening Book Club
For such a Time as This: on Being Jewish Today, by Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove
Facilitated by Penina Haber, NON-FICTION
A poignant exploration of what it means to be Jewish today, from a leading voice in modern Judaism, Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove of Park Avenue Synagogue.
Knitting together storytelling with ancient teachings, Rabbi Cosgrove helps navigate and understand the landscape of this new reality, turning over questions that have no clear or easy answer in the way only a very good rabbi can.
For thousands of years, the Jewish people have wrestled with what it means to be Jewish. In this often divisive era, Rabbi Cosgrove reminds of how we can come together despite—and even because of—our differences. For Such a Time as This is a guide for a new generation that is reconciling the past with the present and facing the unknown future with courage, spirit, and unwavering hope.
Please RSVP for dinner. There is NO cost to attend. Dinner begins at 6:30pm. Program begins at 7:00pm

Into the midst of this turmoil marched tiny, dynamic Mary Putnam Jacobi, daughter of New York publisher George Palmer Putnam and the first woman to be accepted into the world-renowned Sorbonne medical school in Paris. As one of the best-educated doctors in the world, she returned to New York for the fight of her life. With 1 in every 9 Georgians at risk of hunger, the number of people requesting emergency food assistance continues to grow. If every volunteer visiting our Hunger Action Center brings just two cans of food, we would be able to provide approximately 2,750 additional meals each month! The Hunger Action Center provides a great hands-on experience in a diverse and social atmosphere. Groups and individual volunteers come together to inspect, sort, and pack quality grocery donations to prepare for distribution to nearly 700 partner agencies across Georgia. Dress Code: Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes are required, with sneakers or work boots recommended. Flip flops, Crocs, sandals or heeled shoes are not allowed. Please wear comfortable clothing which you do not mind getting a bit rumpled. Some volunteers will be sorting refrigerated product. Please wear long pants and bring a sweatshirt or light jacket with you. In the event you are working elsewhere, we do have lockers onsite to place your outerwear. Food Donations: *Please consider bringing as many nonperishable items as you can! You're already making a tremendous difference by volunteering. Think how much that can be magnified by grabbing a couple of food items to bring with you when you come! We're always in need of natural peanut butter, canned chicken, and canned fruits & vegetables.
