Do I have to be a member to attend High Holiday services?
Not at all. Whether you're visiting for the first time, exploring Judaism, looking for a spiritual home, or just need a place for holiday services, you're welcome at Or Hadash. This year we are offering complimentary High Holiday tickets for guests residing in the Greater Atlanta area. Space is limited, so we encourage you to reserve your complimentary tickets today.
What kind of synagogue is Or Hadash?
Or Hadash is a warm, egalitarian Conservative synagogue in Sandy Springs serving the Greater Atlanta community. We are known for joyful music, participatory services, inspiring Jewish learning, and a genuinely welcoming spirit that helps people of all ages and backgrounds feel at home. Whether you're a lifelong Jew, new to Judaism, or visiting for the first time, you'll find meaningful services, authentic community, and opportunities to connect. Many guests tell us they felt they belonged from the moment they walked through our doors.
Are children welcome?
Yes! We love having children at Or Hadash. We offer family-friendly programming and age-appropriate experiences during the High Holidays so everyone can celebrate in meaningful ways. Reservations are needed for babysitting and children’s services. Please sign-up in advance so we can plan for your family.
Why are you offering complimentary High Holiday tickets?
We believe everyone deserves a place to celebrate the High Holidays. Whether you're new to Atlanta, exploring Judaism, returning after time away, or simply looking for a welcoming Jewish community, we'd love to help you experience the holidays with us.
Or Hadash is offering complimentary High Holiday tickets that are available for individuals and families living in the Greater Atlanta area. Simply complete the RSVP form to reserve your place. Space is limited, so we encourage you to register early.

I'm new to Judaism…
Absolutely. Many people join us each year who have never attended Jewish services or are just beginning their Jewish journey. No prior knowledge is expected. We'll help you follow along, and we're always happy to answer questions.
I've never been to High Holiday services…
Expect beautiful music, meaningful prayer, moments for personal reflection, and a welcoming community. Whether you're returning after many years or attending for the very first time, we'll help you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive.
Can I attend if I'm not Jewish?
Absolutely. We welcome family members, friends, neighbors, and anyone interested in experiencing the High Holidays with us. Everyone is invited to learn, reflect, and celebrate together.
Can I come alone or bring someone with me?
Absolutely. Many guests attend on their own, especially if they're new to Atlanta or exploring Judaism. You're also welcome to invite friends or family members to experience the High Holidays with you. Each guest simply needs to complete the RSVP form to reserve complimentary tickets.
What if I'm returning to synagogue after many years?
You'll be in good company. Many people find their way back during the High Holidays. There's no expectation that you know every prayer or custom—just bring an open heart.

Expect uplifting music, meaningful prayer, moments for quiet reflection, Rabbi Lauren's inspiring sermon, and a community that genuinely wants you to feel at home. Whether it's your first High Holiday service or your first in many years, we'll help you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive
Will I know what to do during the service?
Yes. Our prayer books include Hebrew, English translation, and transliteration, and Rabbi Lauren, Dr. Amy, and our service leaders guide everyone throughout the experience. Whether you know every prayer or none at all, you can simply participate at your own comfort level. Just come as you are.
Planning your Visit
Do I need a ticket? How do I check in for services?
If you've completed the online RSVP form for complimentary High Holiday tickets, you're all set! Your RSVP reserves your place at all High Holidays services.
For everyone's safety, all attendees check in upon arrival. Simply bring a valid photo ID—there's no need to print or bring anything else. Our volunteers will be ready to welcome you at the Guest Welcome Table and help you get settled.

Do I need to wear a kippah?What do I need to bring?
Bring yourself. An open mind and heart. A valid photo ID. If you’d like to participate in our tikkun olam project, bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Community Assistance Center for people in need in our community.
What should I wear?
There's no dress code. For Rosh HaShanah, some people dress up, while others come in business casual attire. Wear whatever helps you feel comfortable and respectful for the occasion. For Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur, many congregants wear white as a symbol of purity and renewal and avoid wearing leather as a traditional expression of humility. Whether or not you observe these customs, you're welcome to come as you are. You may also want to bring a light sweater or wrap, as the sanctuary can sometimes be cool.
At Or Hadash, it is our custom for men and boys to wear a kippah (head covering) during services, and anyone who wishes to wear one is welcome to do so. If you don't have one or forget to bring one, we'll have kippot available when you pick up your prayer book.
I don't have a tallit. Can I borrow one?
Yes. We have loaner tallitot (prayer shawls) available during services. If you don't have one or choose not to wear one, you're still warmly welcome.
Do I have to show up at the start time?
Great question. Some people love getting to services early, selecting a seat and settling in for the morning prayers. Many people come a little later in the service. You may come and go whenever you feel comfortable. The Torah service usually begins around 10:15 am each morning, and the Rabbi’s sermon will typically be before the Torah service.
As a guest, am I invited to the Erev Rosh HaShanah Dinner and Yom Kippur Break Fast?
Absolutely! One of the best ways to get to know our community is around the table. Advanced registration and payment are required for everyone who attends these meals, just use the links below.

Is there a suggested donation for attending High Holiday services?
We are delighted to welcome guests to Or Hadash for the High Holidays. While there is no required donation to attend, many guests choose to make a contribution as a way of supporting our welcoming community and the programs that make these experiences possible.
Is There Programming for Children and Teens?
Is there programming for children?
Yes! We provide stimulating and creative youth programming for grades K-7 from 10 am - 1 pm on Rosh HaShanah Days 1 & 2 and on Yom Kippur. Your children can look forward to fun, creative and interactive experiences connected with the themes and traditions of the season and lots more.
A combination of babysitting and programming will be available for ages 6 months-4 years at the same times as youth programming.

For teens we have a designated teen lounge for 8th-12th graders with a mix of teen-centered programming and space to hang out. No registration or cost.
What if my child or teenager gets bored?
Children who don’t want to join youth programming or babysitting are always welcome in the sanctuary. They are encouraged to sit with their parents or relatives. We also have a tented area in the courtyard where people take breaks and enjoy each other's company.
Back by popular demand, we will have a designated teen lounge for 8th-12th graders with a mix of teen-centered programming and time and space to hang out.
Location, Parking, and Accessibility
Where is Or Hadash located?
We're conveniently located in Sandy Springs, making us an easy drive from throughout metro Atlanta.
Is parking available?
Yes. Free parking is available on campus and across the street at Sewell Appliance. Our parking attendants and volunteers will be happy to direct you when you arrive.
Are your facilities accessible?
Yes. Or Hadash is committed to being welcoming and accessible for everyone. If you have mobility, hearing, visual, or other accessibility needs, please contact us before the holidays so we can help make your visit as comfortable as possible.
Can I livestream the services?
Yes. Most High Holiday services will be available via livestream.. You can access the livestream via Zoom (password required) or our YouTube channel
