Gender 101: An Exploration of Emerging Gender Identities
All-gender bathrooms, pronouns, b'mitzvah - more than just language is changing. What does an expansion of gender identities mean for us, and for our Jewish practices born out of a different understanding or experience of gender? How do we balance tradition with emerging needs? If you feel more perplexed than ever, you're not alone - this is a safe space for asking any and all questions.
Join R' Lauren, Dr. Amy and Sojourn's (Southern Jewish Resource Network for Gender and Sexual Diversity) R’ Joshua Lesser and McKenzie Wren for a conversation on the changing landscape of gender identity and implications for modern Judaism. The idea for the program originated from a discussion that took place in the Or Hadash Men's Club. Judaism has survived both by relying on traditions and by innovating. Let us do what we do best - let's talk, learn and explore together in a respectful space of curiosity and spirit. The program is for the entire Or Hadash community and all are invited to attend. Dinner will be provided, beginning at 6:30PM with the program starting at 7PM.
