Exploring Zionism In This Moment: Values, Tensions, and Aspirations After October 7

Join Rabbi Lauren for this 8-session course from the Shalom Hartman Institute exploring the core tensions, values, and aspirations of liberal Zionism in our post-October 7 reality.

This will be an opportunity for in-person, beit midrash-style text-focused discussion on Thursday evenings beginning January 29 and continuing on February 5, 12, March 5, 12, April 16, 23, and May 7. Each class is a self-contained topic, but the discussion will build upon previous sessions, so try to come to all sessions. The tuition cost is $180. Register here.

There will also be an additional opportunity to discuss the podcasts on Tuesday mornings at 8:00 am during Nosh & Drosh after minyan, which does not require registration and can be accessed in person or via the Zoom link on our website.

For everyone joining the course, and for anyone not able to join in the course but who wants to see the course material and listen to the podcasts, you can find it by registering for free at this Hartman link: Access course material. (You’ll see there that the course is titled “Liberal Zionism: Between Crisis and Aspiration”).

Discussions include:

Countering the Criminalization of Israel * Is Zionism a Colonialist Project? * Criticism and Solidarity * The Militarization of Israeli Society * The Rise and Challenge of Illiberal Zionism * The Legacy of Gaza in Israel * The Legacy of Gaza in the Diaspora.
