    Adult Crafting Group

    Whether you’re an experienced maker or just getting started, join the creativity and community at Or Hadash. Bring a project you love—or one you’ve been meaning to finish—and enjoy crafting together in a welcoming, relaxed space.

    Chapter and Verse

    Members meet weekly on Tuesday at noon on zoom for thoughtful discussion of the week's Torah portion. Led by Rabbi Lauren and Dr. Amy.

    Chevra Kadisha

    The work of the Chevra Kadisha begins before death (visiting the sick, life review, ethical wills, funeral and burial planning), continues through the time of death (taharah, shmirah, kri’ah and burial), to the year after death (consoling mourners, meals of comfort, shiva, and grief processing), and beyond. Members volunteer to support these activities.

    Daytime Book Club

    Members meet monthly on a Wednesday afternoon to discuss books that reflect our culture and times.

    Evening Book Club

    Meets on the second Wednesday evening of the month, members lead reviews and discussions of fiction and non-fiction books exploring Jewish culture, history, politics, relationships and diverse interests. Everyone is welcome! Titles are chosen once a year by votes of all members.

    Green Team

    Help us care for our community—and our planet. The Green Team brings together members who are passionate about reducing our carbon footprint, cutting waste, and making sustainable choices that reflect our Jewish values. Whether we’re improving energy efficiency, rethinking our use of resources, or inspiring small everyday changes, we’re working toward a healthier, greener Or Hadash.

    Join us as we learn, experiment, and make an impact—one thoughtful step at a time.

    Members help organize the nosh we share on Shabbats. Join our Baking Crew or help plan our community Shabbat dinners and events.

    Mah Jongg

    Whether you’re a seasoned pro or brand new to the tiles, join the fun, strategy, and community at Or Hadash. Play with us every Monday as we alternate between afternoons and evenings. Check the website calendar for more details and for dates and times.

    Member Engagement Committee

    Works with staff to develop strategies to attract, engage, and retain members through various outreach and in reach activities for the purpose of increasing engagement and building community.

    Men's Club

    Members involve Jewish men with Jewish life, both at COH and in our broader community, through social, educational and philanthropic activities.

    Or Nashim

    Members strengthen the bonds of the women in our community, to each other and to Judaism. We meet every Rosh Hodesh.

    SciFi Book Club

    Explore Jewish themes and voices through science fiction and fantasy with the Or Hadash Sci-Fi Book Club. We meet monthly after Shabbat services for thoughtful, engaging conversations about books and short stories. Read along—or just come to listen and participate. All are welcome.

    Softball Team

    Members of all ages comprise our amazing, long-standing slow-pitch Softball team that plays in the Atlanta Men's Synagogue Softball League on Sundays every summer.

    Tech Crew

    Volunteers run the cameras, audio and Zoom for Shabbat services and special events. We will train you--it's a mitzvah to make our services accessible to everyone!

    Tikkun Olam

    Our members bring to life the Torah’s vision of a just and compassionate world through tzedakah (righteous behaviors promoting equity and sustainability) and g’milut hasadim (caring for the community however we can - with money, through working with our hands, souls, and minds, putting our values to work)

    Torah Readers

    Torah is a central part of our religious lives. We invite volunteers to read both Torah and Haftarah during Shabbat and holiday services.
