Our beloved teen program is back!
Teacher: Rachel Lazarus
Time: Monthly on Sundays, 5:00-6:30pm
Location: We currently plan to meet at Or Hadash, in a small group that is masked, distanced, and outdoors or well-ventilated. Teens are welcome to participate either in person or via Zoom. If necessary, we will shift to an entirely online meeting.
Cost: $200 per teen. Cost is significantly lower this year as we will not serve dinner.

Definition of Taboo: a social or religious custom prohibiting or forbidding discussion of a particular practice. In Jews and Taboos, we tackle those subjects that people don’t like to talk about.
Topics:
- Can Jews be white supremacists? How Jews fit in among discussions of privilege and racism; also discussion of inclusion of Jews of color.
- Should we still follow arcane laws? Laws that seem out of touch and why people still follow them
- What is kosher sex? Jewish laws on consent, love, and the LGBTQ+ community
- Are transgender boys circumcised? What Judaism has to say (or not say) about transgender/intersex/gender non-conforming people.
- Are there Jewish drug addicts? alcohol and drug addiction in the Jewish community.
- Did God write the Torah? A look at the 4 authors theory and reading the Tanakh as literature (2 sessions)
