In the Week Ahead

The office is open so long as it is safe for the staff to be here.
We have made plans for remote access if we need to work from home.
Or Hadash will continue to Zoom all services, classes, life-cycle events,
and meetings for the foreseeable future. We will be guided by advice from the CDC, NIH
and other science and health experts for when it will be safe to change these plans.

We are here to answer your questions

COH Book Club: Wonderful Books and Thought Provoking Discussion
7:00 pm Wednesday, October 14 | View Schedule and Book Selections
This season, our book club members have chosen their own books. All meetings will be conducted via Zoom platform (link will be posted to the homepage) and airs monthly on the second Wednesday (unless otherwise noted). For additional information about this club, please contact Cheryl Hecht @

Qohelet and the Race to Nowhere
11:00 am Sunday, October 18 | Join us for a panel and discussion with teens, parents, and educators. The book of Qohelet, read by the Jewish community each year at Sukkot, calls into question every notion of “meaningful” accomplishment and legacy, and demands that we stop the vain pursuit of making our lives “add up” to something. Our math is all wrong, says Qohelet, so we’d best stop scoring our lives. RSVP.

Intergenerational Music Making at COH!
12:30 pm Sunday, October 18 | Come make music together! Bring your instrument or your voice and join the fun. (Guitar, uke, drum, string, voice ... sorry, no winds or brass this time around.) Drew Cohen will lead us, and we will have chords written out and one mic'd singer to help unite us. No instrument? Join the table drumming crew! We won't do a fully voiced "sing along," but you may sing quietly along. RSVP to participate!

What's Hot and What's Not... In Israel
11:45 am Wednesday, October 21 | Join Rabbi Mario Karpuj on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, from Israel! This formally onsite event is now being conducted via Zoom platform continuing the same informal, and always lively, discussion about current events happening in and about Israel. The Zoom connection will be on our website's homepage along with any study materials provided.

One Prayer Deep Dive: A Siddur Book Club
8:00 am Tuesday(s), October 27 through November
If you’ve ever sat in services and wished that you could better understand just one prayer at a time before moving onto the next one, this class is for you! Beginning on October 27, following Minyan, you are invited to drop-in to journey prayer-by-prayer through the morning service, looking at just one prayer a week (and occasionally, over multiple weeks). No Hebrew knowledge or prayer expertise required - just bring your questions, curiosity, and a siddur/prayerbook if you have one (we’ll also be sharing text on screen for those who don’t have a siddur at home).

Daytime Book Club
1:30 pm Wednesday, October 28 | 'Lite' reading, perfect for anyone home during the day who loves to read, talk, and share a laugh or two. Future group meet-ups will be decided at this meeting. All members are invited to join... walk-ins (Zoom-ins) are welcomed with an RSVP to Hanora. Books are chosen and discussion is led by participants on Zoom platform. Contact Hanora Rosen ( for more information and to RSVP for the Zoom link.

Ongoing through November 25, Monday through Thursday between
9 am to 5 pm, please bring your new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, scarves, sweaters, socks, tights, blankets, and other winter clothing to COH and place in our bins in foyer outside the front door of the building! Your donations will benefit families who are in need in Sandy Springs & Dunwoody and will be delivered to a Community Assistance Center (CAC) location. Contact Jodi Ginsberg ( if you have questions. Member volunteers are needed to organize/sort Sunday, December 6. If you would like to help out… sign up here.
