Be A Buddy

First days are both exhilarating and overwhelming. A new school or job? New neighborhood or home? New spouse or children? NEW SYNAGOGUE? These transitions always pose the question, "do I really fit in?"

At Congregation Or Hadash, we are committed to ensuring that all new members have easy access to fitting in. One important way we help do this is through a volunteer Buddy System. This is your chance to share your enthusiasm, knowledge, and friendship with a new Or Hadash member.

Here is how it works. The membership committee will create a database of folks who volunteer to be a Buddy. We will organize the database to reflect the various demographics we represent (age, married/single, children/none, interests, religious school, residence neighborhood). When new people join our synagogue we will match them with a Buddy from the list and facilitate an introduction. Then all you have to do is make a plan with the new member to get together: attend a service or other COH program or event, or share a Shabbat meal. Whatever works. Then, at minimum, stay in touch with "your buddy" on a monthly basis for up to 6 months to continue to build their COH connection and address any questions or concerns. That's it! We need you. Please help us welcome our new members by volunteering to be a Buddy. Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
