  • Machon Hadash Religious School

Meets virtually midweek and in person on Shabbat

We want our children to feel at ease and at home in the synagogue and in the Jewish world more generally, now and in the future. At Machon Hadash, we move toward this vision with three points of focus on the horizon: nurturing belonging, building literacy, and making magic.

  • Jews and Taboos

8-10th graders | Meets monthly on Sundays

Born out of questions from our own teens, in Jews & Taboos, we tackle those subjects that tend to make people uncomfortable. Recent topics have included

How do Jews fit into discussions of privilege and racism? How do we talk about Jewish identity vis a vis race when Jews come from many different ethnic backgrounds and have many different skin tones?

What is kosher sex? Jewish laws on consent, love, and the LGBTQ+ community.

Are there Jewish drug addicts? Alcohol and drug addiction in the Jewish community.

Did God write the Torah? A look at the 4 authors theory and reading the Tanakh as literature.

Can you be a Jewish atheist? What is a messianic Jew?

    Tot Shabbat

About once a month, Join Rabbi Lauren and other families of kids ages 0-4 for Tot Shabbat, a magical, musical, playful gathering celebrating Shabbat together. We'll tell stories, sing prayers and songs, move our bodies, and revel in the wonder of togetherness and love.

Look at our Calendar page to see upcoming Tot Shabbat dates.

    Gan Katan

Drop-off learning and play for pre-schoolers. Monthly on Shabbat mornings. Our new monthly preschool class offers young children a space to learn and play with Jewish holidays and stories, meet new Jewish friends, and begin to feel more at home in the synagogue.

Sessions are 10:30-11:30am, and all are welcome to stay for Kiddush lunch. Click the button below for more information and to register.
