Vision Statement

Or Hadash religious school welcomes children who wish to learn traditional Jewish values and practices in an egalitarian environment. We provide a joyful experience that helps children form a positive Jewish identity, which will inspire in them a lifelong commitment to practice Judaism in the synagogue and at home.

This is a place where children will gain a strong sense of connection with Israel and other Jews around the world. We provide an educational center where children will acquire a love for Jewish learning and a passion for observance of Jewish tradition, in an environment that respects the needs of their generation. Our program reinforces the importance of family by including family members in programming and encouraging their involvement in the education process.

This is an environment where all children are given the tools to develop a personal relationship with and reverence for God.

A Letter from the Education Staff

Our children will experience the beauty of Judaism by studying texts, participating in Hebrew learning games and activities, praying together, sharing meals and, as a family, fulfilling the Mitzvah of Tikun Olam by performing special activities to celebrate Jewish traditions and serve the entire community. Rabbis Dr. Analia Bortz and Mario Karpuj along with our amazing staff of educators will teach our children as they grow and create together.

The Congregation Or Hadash Religious School meets on Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.  Soon, this page will include links that will take you to more detailed information outlining the structure of our religious school, along with application forms, student and parent resources, and a password-protected student directory.  If you have any questions about religious school, please call 404-250-3338 and ask for Jessica.

Ready to have fun, nosh and study with the Rabbis?
Come every other Wednesday, starting on August 19 and you will experience ping-pong, air hockey and board game tournaments along with some nosh and classes exclusively prepared for your interests.
Topics include: Piercing and Tattooing, Jewish Law and Organ Transplantation, Jewish Identity and Zionism

Madrichim Program

Wednesdays 4:30-6:45pm and/or Saturdays 9:30am-12pm starting August 19

This is an opportunity to give back to your community and earn some money at the same time. "Madrich" or "madricha" comes from the Hebrew root that means "way" or "direction." Madrichim are teens who assist religious school teachers in the classroom in the following ways: "directing", leading, or participating in learning games and activities; working with students one-on-one; helping teachers prepare their lessons; teaching; and more.

Madrichim are guided by the teachers and religious school director so that they are properly prepared for their responsibilities. In the process, they are reinforcing their Jewish education, strengthening their sense of Jewish identity, acting as role models for our youth, and learning valuable life skills.

Religious School Parents: Stay and Learn with Rabbi Analia

Wednesdays starting August 19th, 5-6pm

Why Drop OFF if you can Drop IN?!?
Do you want to make Religious School a productive time?
Every Wednesday from 5 to 6, while your child is learning at Religious School, you can participate in a unique learning experience of your own; instead of dropping off your child, stay and learn with Rabbi Analia.
Every class session will cover a different topic (so don't worry if you miss a week.)
Topics include: Talmud, Jewish Bioethics, Torah, Jewish History, Zionism, Spanish or Hebrew...Every week will be a new discovery. Just stay and you will not REGRET it!
